Whether you are a life long fisherman or just beginning, we can provide opportunities for catching Red, Pink, Chum and Silver Salmon, Rainbow Trout and the abundant Dolly Varden Char … all within a scenic 30 minute run from our lodge.
River fishing in the Uganik River, one of Kodiak’s best, can be done by boat and/or hiking during the months of June through October.
During June, July & August we access the river from the mouth in a jon-boat ~ a scenic boat ride takes you along river banks bears fish from, past rock cliffs that provide vantage points for perching eagles and in the water below and all around, large schools of salmon and dolly varden make their way up river ~ stopping at fishing holes all along the way to fish and bear view. River float trips can be added to greatly enhance your wilderness fishing opportunities, putting you in fishing holes not accessible by boat.
In September we do exclusive fly-out fishing trips, flying from the lodge to Uganik Lake, rafting and fishing through the upper half of the river, bear viewing along the lower half and then fishing for silver salmon at the river mouth. Fly and spin fishing gear is provided and all trips are fully guided.
Fishing lessons are available for anyone wishing to give it a go!
